Dr Ken’s shows have toured science festivals, family & adult events, primary, high, and special needs schools. He often presents several performances each day, working with organisations for several days, on projects and tours. He has a flexible approach and can produce a variety of options tailoring a programme that best suits your event & budget.

These entertaining themed shows create many memorable visual images that inspire pupils to look more favourably at STEM subjects.

Common Questions

What is the cost?

Some schools know exactly what they require from a STEM day to maximise the benefit for each pupil. Over the last 25 years many ideas have been discussed, worked through and successfully accommodated.

An individual quote will vary depending on the number of days, shows and/or workshops required plus travelling expenses.

As one teacher put it “cheaper than buying each pupil a happy meal and mentally more nutritious”.

Schools can share travel costs by working with local schools in their area.

Training and extra presentations are possible during the school day or for afterschool events.

What does a typical day look like?

Dr Ken performs up to 3 shows per day, or a combination of shows and workshops.

Shows last for 60 minutes. This includes audience arrival, departure, presentation and questions. For most shows there is some level of flexibility to lengthen or shorten show time

Workshops generally have 20, 30, 40 or 60 minutes versions but there some have the potential to be combined with longer investigations.

CPD, training and extra presentations can also be arranged during the school day, for afterschool events or INSET days.

What is the ideal location and space?

Shows

A school hall with a presentation space of 4x5m clear space would be ideal.

If pupils are sat on chairs it is recommended using a stage. This will ensure good sight lines for all pupils.

Workshops

Some shows have several different workshops associated with them. Most workshops work best in a hall but some classroom and outdoor activities are available.

How long do you need to set up?

This is show-dependent and will be discussed during the booking. Dr Ken will arrive early to allow enough time for unloading, transport to the presentation area, and setting up. Time is also allocated for resetting and repacking before departure.

If other activities need the venue before or after the presentation please allow enough time to facilitate this smooth transition.
